Pedro Medina

The specific mission of Yo Creo en Colombia (FYCC) is to empower Colombians to speak well about their country and act on its behalf, increasing collective self-worth and building social capital between Colombians.
The idea surged in 1999 when Pedro Medina, Fellow at Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, was giving a college class in Colombia and asked his senior students how many of them pictured themselves in Colombia in five years; 12 out of 39 raised their hand. When Mr. Medina asked why they wanted to leave the students turned the question back on him: "Why stay?" Confronted by this and his lack of arguments, Mr. Medina endeavored to organize a research group looking for the positive aspects of Colombia to empower Colombians to speak well about their country.
